We’re now rotating the art in the entry section of our space, and the first art we’re featuring is Inked Animal. The project is the work of Adam Cohen and Ben Labay, full-time fish biologists from Austin, Texas. Since 2007, they have collaborated in making unique fish (Gyotaku) and animal prints.
As conservation biologists, Adam and Ben seek the long-term persistence of the populations of animals they print. The pieces are strikingly beautiful, and your eventual realization of the prints’ dead source material rings like a gong for the plight of these animals.
Stop by during an Open Canopy weekend (First Friday and Saturday of each month), or just pop in and see these beautiful pieces.
